Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect at my first visit?
Your first visit with Light Matters Therapy will last 45 minutes to an hour. We will meet to go over paperwork and answer any questions you have about light therapy. After we are finished with your consultation, we will start your session. I will assist in placing the light pads directly on your skin (under your clothes), in various areas depending on what issues we are addressing. Once the light session is over, we remove the pads and discuss how your session went. Which will be ah-mazing!!
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable, loose clothing. Why? Because we place the pads directly on your skin. Don’t worry, there is no need to undress and we disinfect the pads after each session.
What should I expect after my session?
Everyone responds differently. Some experience immediate relief, while others take several sessions to notice a change. It’s important to understand that light therapy isn’t a miracle, overnight cure. Typically, when we are working on an acute condition, the body responds quickly. If we are working on a chronic condition, people tend to see improvements gradually.
Does it hurt?
Absolutely not. It’s a calming and relaxing experience. Because light therapy puts your body in a parasympathetic state, most people fall asleep during their session.
How long is a session?
The initial consultation with a light therapy session is about an hour to an hour and a half. Every session thereafter is 45 to 60 minutes.
How often can I do light therapy?
For optimal results, it’s recommended you do 2 to 3 sessions a week.
Is light therapy safe to use on children?
Yes, I have helped many children that have had injuries, sleep, stomach and behavioral issues. I adjust the time I apply the lights on children with incredible results. Children respond really well to light therapy.
Are there any side effects?
There are no negative side effects. No adverse reactions have ever been reported to the Federal Drug Administration.
Are the pads safe to use on animals?
Yes! Light therapy has been shown to be effective for canine pain therapy and for relieving pain and healing injuries in sport horses.
What form of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check, credit cards, as well as health savings account. We do not bill insurance at this time.
Does insurance cover light therapy?
Some insurance companies cover light therapy, so it is important to check with your provider to determine coverage. Payment is expected at the time of service. We are happy to provide you with an invoice to submit to insurance for reimbursement, when requested.
How can I get the lights in my home?
We have several system packages available to purchase for your home use. We also have a rental program with prices starting at $200 a week.
