Increasing Libido - Pad Placements

Today sounds like the perfect day to dive into a topic most of us know very little about. We’ve covered the different sexual health issues for men and women. Now let’s dive into the energy you feel towards having healthy sex - your libido, also known as sexual desire.

It’s something that most people aren’t willing to address in public, but it’s an essential part of healthy marriages and life, so let’s dive in!

What happens with Libido?

Men and women have different levels of sexual desire that change over time as our bodies age and as we experience different levels of health. We will all experience changing highs and lows that can be impacted by confidence, diet, exercise, menopause, illness, and pregnancy.

“If your lack of interest in sex continues or returns and causes personal distress, talk with your healthcare professional. You may have a treatable condition called sexual interest-arousal disorder.” (Article 1.)

Symptoms of low libido:

Symptoms of low sex drive can include (referenced from Mayo Clinic):

  • Having less or no interest in any type of sexual activity, including masturbation

  • Never or only seldom having sexual fantasies or thoughts

  • Being sad or concerned about your lack of sexual activity

What can cause low libido?

Sex and intimacy are such vulnerable and connecting activities and there can often be a lot of different factors that impact your levels of libido. These can include emotional well-being, physical health, your current relationship, beliefs, and lifestyle. (Article 1.)

On a deeper level, this also includes:

  • Hormonal changes - this can happen during menopause (and Man-opause). This can lead to your body not regulating sexual organs (like with vaginal dryness or erectile dysfunction). Fatigue can also put a damper on your natural hormone regulation and reduce your libido

  • Psychological changes - if you are experiencing stress, low self-esteem, or mental health conditions (like anxiety or depression) these can have a major impact on your emotional safety and your body’s ability to direct attention away from survival mode into stability

  • Relationship Tribulations - Intimacy and feeling trust with your partner can increase your libido. If that connection wanes, libido can as well. Issues with libido here may come from feeling disconnected from your partner, poor communication, lack of trust, fear, and concerns about compatibility

How does light therapy help?

"The best-known use for RLT (red light therapy) is to treat inflammation, wounds and pain. RLT increases blood flow to the area being treated. This helps bring more oxygen and nutrients to the cells and tissues, ultimately leading to faster wound healing and tissue repair." (Article 3)

For your reproductive organs, light therapy devices actually help to create blood flow to encourage healthy vaginal and erectile tissue. This can aid in the maintenance and health of your body allowing for faster healing and providing energy to be re-directed towards hormonal function and increased libido.

Infrared light therapy also helps with hormonal regulation which enables your body to stabilize itself. It also allows the focus to be on healthy functioning which is a net-win for your body's libido and for maintaining healthy communication in relationships.

Pad Placements to help with increasing your libido:

Facemask: You can place this pad over your eyes. This focuses on circulation and helps your body to calm down as your body is better able to regulate hormones. (Including sexual hormones.)

Square (Red & Infrared): You’ll place this pad over your tummy; again this focuses heavily on circulation and also on gut health - this impacts your overall digestion and bladder functions.

Skinny Rectangle (Tri-color): You’ll place this pad over your mid-back to help your adrenals, circulation and detox.

Big Rectangle (Red & Infrared): This adds extra focus to all of the major organs and your circulatory system along your midsection. You’ll place this over your lower back to amplify healing and blood flow.

Tpad (Red & Infrared): This pad will be placed carefully over your groin or femoral triangle. It draws more blood flow and the infrared lights help target hormone regulation.

I know taking the time to pause and heal your body can feel overwhelming or difficult, but I also know that if you are here, you see the value in how taking care of yourself can bring joy to both you and your loved ones.

I want to welcome you into a healthier lifestyle where you can thrive instead of just survive.
