The Top 10 Questions I Get Asked

Updated: Aug 28, 2023

I received a lot of great questions during the webinar and it reminded me that I need to lay out some of the most common questions for everyone. If there are any questions that you have that aren’t on this list, send me an email or give me a call and I’ll answer them for you!

When your body absorbs red/near-infrared light energy, it stimulates a photochemical reaction within your mitochondria that increases ATP production and cell signaling. Basically, it gives your body the energy it needs to regulate itself and focus its efforts on healing your bones by regenerating more of it!

Yes! Light therapy helps your body increase circulation - and specifically it supports healthy blood flow to areas of your brain that regulates your hormones, and clears out any waste that may exist in the blood-brain barrier.

Light therapy helps in so many different ways. But one of the core things that it does to help with nerve pain is to utilize the red light wavelengths that are used in light therapy. This stimulates the mitochondria in your cells which allows your body to produce the energy it needs to regulate itself and repair anything that’s broken.

Absolutely - especially with inflammation, blue light (which is one of the three core lights used in light therapy) is known for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects in the initial stages of the healing process. It gets down to the epidermis of your skin and activates hormones, cortisol (stress levels) and cytokines (a molecular messenger).

Red light penetrates ½" to 1" into the body. The depth allows for the release of collagen. Collagen is important for the healing process of skin conditions like eczema, diabetic wounds, scars, and has anti-aging effects too.

Red and infrared light acts as a very mild form of stress that activates protective mechanisms in cells. When red light hits the skin and penetrates into cells, mitochondria are nudged to make energy more efficiently. This boosts the production of healing anti-inflammatories and antioxidants that speed up healing.

Yes! And this is a big one that I get A LOT. Skin is so important for having confidence in yourself so I love that light therapy helps with this. Acne-causing bacteria is sensitive to certain wavelengths of light. When you use blue and red light wavelengths it kills the bacteria without causing damage to your skin. “Light therapy also shrinks the oil glands in your skin, so your skin makes less pore-clogging oil.” (WebMD)

6. How is light therapy anti-aging? (Click to read more.)

Aging occurs when your body isn’t able to repair and clean out old cells with new cells at the same rate. Light therapy helps your body repair itself faster as it increases your circulation which allows for this process to be in balance. It gets down to the cells that need repair and support. It allows for the body to flow more naturally and increases the speed at which oxygen gets to your cells.

It does! Light therapy has been used successfully to treat rheumatoid arthritis and other types of pain for decades. The light wavelengths used during a session helps to improve energy production in joint cells, which lowers inflammation and normalizes the function of your joints.

8. Does light therapy help with recovery after surgery?

Definitely! Just like with the anti-aging healing that light therapy can do, the wavelengths help your body’s circulation AND reduce inflammation at the same time. This way your body can flush out damaged cells and help rebuild even faster so you can be back on your feet doing what you love faster.

Well of course! One of the core focuses of treatment for COVID is the suppression of the severe inflammatory reaction in the lungs so that you can breathe properly. This means your body needs to do the work of flushing out the waste after your white blood cells do their work, that’s where the anti-inflammatory properties of light therapy come in. The infrared wavelengths help your body do the deep work of energizing your body and cleaning out waste from your lungs.

The pad system InLight uses is a lot more affordable and balances out all of the different options by also being incredibly effective. What I really like about the pad system is that you can actually wrap the pads around your joints, around your head, shoulders, knees, elbows, etc. and focus on any type of issues that you have with intention. You can also place the pads directly on your skin underneath your clothing so it’s very comfortable.

Those are the top 10 questions I get with light therapy! May you have a beautiful rest of your week! I’m here if you need anything.

With Love,

~Lisa Chadsey
